Cork Bark Elm (ulmus neri)
The Neri Elm has small serrated green leaves with good fall color. It has a striking gnarled corky bark appearance hence the name Cork Bark Elm. Decideous. Keep outdoors. 7 years old. 7" tall. Suitable 6.5"x4.5" humidity tray is recommended. To purchase add $2.95.
Variegated Elm (ulmus 'kimmie')
Native to Japan, the Kimmie Elm is a different cultivar of Ulmus Parvifolia and is a very slow grower. The tiny new foliage is a very pale yellow becoming green with a white edge when mature. Shown is an early spring image. Decideous. Keep outdoors. 9 years old. 7" tall.
Weeping White Birch (betula pendula 'trosts dwarf')
This dwarf only grows to 3-4 feet tall, and is highly sought after for bonsai. It has a fine textured thread-leafed light green foliage that looks like a weeping laceleaf maple. Has a peeling bark trunk with pendulous catkins.
Rock Hornbeam (carpinus turczaninovii)
Native to Korea, China and Japan. Full size leaves are 2" but reduce nicely as bonsai. New foliage is a deep bronze color which turns to a combination of red, orange and yellow in the fall. The catkins are about 2" long. Produces hop-like flowers and seed pods when mature.
Japanese (Laceleaf) Maple-Red (Acer Palmatum)
Red Leaves. This is the famous Japanese Maple which has finely dissected palmette shaped leaves (deeply cut like the palm of the hand).
Osmanthus (heterophyllus İgoshiki¦)
Native to Japan. The Japanese false holly has holly-like, spined leaves. Rich gold-splashed variegation and copper-colored new growth make this one a winner. Hardy. Keep outdoors. 6 years old. 7" tall. Suitable 8"x6" humidity tray is recommended. To purchase add $3.50.
Alaska Cedar - Large (Chamecyparis Thoides Andelensis "little jaime")
Upright evergreen with light-green foliage. Likes sun. Hardy to -25 degrees F. We grow three (3) together in one pot to give the appearance of a grove or forest scene. Looks and feels like you're someplace else. Like the Japanese Maple, keep outdoors.
Hokkaido Elm-Large (ulmus parvifolia 'hokkaido')
Native to Japan and Korea, the Hokkaido Elm is a Chinese Elm, not troubled by the Dutch Elm disease that has destroyed so many other species. It is extremely slow growing and will grow only to about 18" tall.
Japanese White Pine (pinus parviflora 'bergman')
Great blue color that has a nice curve to its needles. Medium sized cones. Deep pink-red blooms. Very dense and quite slow growing. All this wrapped up in one makes for a great bonsai. Keep outdoors. 9 years old. 12" - 14" tall. Suitable 6"x8" humidity tray is recommended.
Japanese Green Laceleaf Maple (acer palmatum dissectum 'spring delight')
This popular Japanese Maple has finely dissected palmette shaped leaves (deeply cut like the palm of your hand) and a graceful balanced canopy. Spring leaves are light green and edged in red which last into early summer.
